Why Sustainable Interior Design is the Way to Go in Future

Why Sustainable Interior Design is the Way to Go in Future

S ustainability is going to be the key element in every industry in the near future and slowly we are also experiencing this change in the interior design industry too. If you ask any expert in the interior design industry about the future of interior design, most of them will tell you sustainability will have a big role to play.

In modern-day situations, we have to take special care of our surroundings and our environment. With the growing population and carbon footprint, everything around us is becoming more and more unhealthy, even the environment inside our homes. Toxic chemicals, paints, raw materials of furniture as well as electronic components are only adding to the root problem. With each non-disposable material waste, we are adding more and more problems for our environment.

The primary focus of sustainable interior design methods or ideas is to create a toxic-free, low waste healthy environment for you and your family. If we try to implement this concept more and more, it will not only improve the environment of your home but also will affect the global environment.

The very core principle of sustainability when it comes to interior design is to use more recyclable materials as well as raw materials which are toxic-free and eco-friendly. Many chemical paints that are used on the interior of your house are toxic and not very good for your kids as kids are not very aware of their surroundings and do not adhere to hygiene. It is important to be mindful of the raw materials or chemical components of the paints you are thinking of buying. Make sure the paint you are choosing for the interior of your house has no harmful chemicals or toxic elements. There are so many options nowadays in terms of natural and toxic-free paints which are made from chalk, natural oils, clay, and natural minerals.

A big part of the sustainable interior design concept is to reduce the usage of natural wood as deforestation is becoming a real problem with the growth of real estate everywhere. Wooden furniture is a very common thing in every household but with the growing demand, we are creating havoc in supplying raw materials. It does not take long to cut down a tree and collect the wood to process them for furniture and other requirements. However, that one tree would take decades to grow that big and fill the void. To avoid this mess we can look at some alternative materials like bamboo, reclaimed wood, rattan, rubberwood, cardboard, cork, lantana, and rubberwood. Bamboo grows much faster than normal trees and can be replaced faster than trees.

Sustainability can also be achieved if the production of new things can be limited and we can refurbish or recycle old products. This will not only reduce material waste but also help in reserving forestation and also will cost you less money.

With the emergence of sustainable design, there is a need to become more aware of our consumption habits and how those consumption practices affect the environment. A key to building positive relationships with your home is taking responsibility and making conscious choices when it comes to the things you buy. By buying locally, reusing, repairing, and upcycling consciously and efficiently we can create more sustainable solutions for ourselves, our loved ones, and the world. Asense Interior, one of the best home interior decorators in Bangalore, encourages the practice of using eco-friendly materials.
